It’s in the details
Starting with an accurate and detailed plan will ensure that the rest of your project runs smoothly. A detailed plan will be the most important component in communicating your wishes to your builder and other trades. Accuracy will ensure that your project stays on schedule, within budget, and will help minimize the number of surprises that could arise.
Our design process for new home drawings typically will take 6 – 10 weeks but can vary depending on our current workload and the number of revisions required. The process can roughly be outlined as follows;
- The process starts with a consultation where we establish your desired outcome for the project. We also learn more about your priorities, goals, & budget so that we can achieve a design suitable to your needs. This is also where we determine constraints (such as view, privacy, setbacks, etc,…) and where the client can present any sketches or pictures of their desired outcome.
- Preliminary concepts for a floor plan are then sent to the client as a starting point for their new home. The client will review the preliminary plans and provide feedback. This portion can take several weeks with changes & revisions occurring until the floor plans represent the client’s wishes.
- Once the floor plans have been finalized, we work on the exterior finishes and send some rough renderings so that the client can visualize the finished look of their new home.
- The final step is to complete the permit drawings. The permit drawings include; foundation plans, floor plans, a cross-section, four elevations, roof plan, and general notes/details.
HVAC designs typically will take 1 – 2 weeks but can vary depending on our current workload.
